What’s the difference between a bunion and a bunionette?

Dr. Kovac:
That’s a great question. A bunion forms on the big toe side of your foot, while a bunionette forms on the little toe side. In both cases, the bones in the middle of the foot begin to shift outward, causing the toes to lean inward.

As this happens, a bump can develop at the joint, which often leads to pain and discomfort. These conditions can become quite bothersome, especially with daily activities or certain footwear.
